OnGame Poker SitesWhile not exactly a household name, the Ongame Poker Network has built a reliable and loyal following over the decade plus that the company has been in operation.  Focused primarily on the European poker market, the Ongame Poker Network is an attractive option for both new and experienced online poker players for reasons that we'll cover below in our guide to playing poker at the Ongame Network.

Most of those who are familiar with the Ongame Network probably encountered it through PokerRoom.com, Betfair or Red Kings Poker.  Those three sites, along with just about two dozen others, make up the Ongame Poker Network (full list at the end of this article).  The collection of sites shares the same software platform and also their player pools, meaning that playing at one room on the Ongame Poker Network is effectively the same as playing on another member room.

Players who favor Ongame tend to point to things like security and very soft games, along with generous promotions that reward higher-volume players.  Those who are less a fan of the room cite the traffic numbers and the sometimes-shaky software platform that can make playing higher numbers of multiple tables challenging.

The Basics of the Ongame Poker Network

The key advantage of the Ongame network is the software support offered for multiple devices.  There's obviously the downloadable client (available for PC and Mac poker players), but Ongame rooms also offer the potential to play poker for real money on your iPad, iPhone or Android phone / tablet.  There is also a no download version of the Ongame software that gives an even wider audience of players access to the room.  Another aspect of Ongame that will appeal to many players:  Their internal wallet system is one of the simplest and more elegant in the industry - no more moving money back and forth across several products multiple times a day.

There is no fast-fold client currently available for Ongame Network rooms, and it's not clear when (if ever) the network intends to introduce a fast-fold component for their poker platform.

Activity and Games Offered at Ongame Rooms

While not as large as the 888 Network, the Ongame Poker Network is still a substantial force in the world of online poker.  The network has consistently ranked in the top 10 by real-money traffic over the last several years, and continues to offer players an above-average selection of cash games and tournaments.

No limit hold'em is the game of choice for most players at Ongame; however, the room does boast a higher percentage of pot limit omaha tables than your average poker site.  Ongame also offers a variety of alternative games, including stud and 5 card draw (played as a pot limit game).  Tournaments at the Ongame Poker Network consist of various no limit hold'em formats with a smattering of non-holdem games sprinkled throughout the tournament schedule.  Ongame rooms primarily offer lower buy in tournaments (think $5-$25 range) except during peak times like weekends.

Ongame Network Rooms: Offers and Promotions

The promotions and bonuses at Ongame are less centralized than the typical online poker network.  This means that each individual skin of the Ongame Network effectively offers their own unique set of promotions.  There a a few common promotions, the best of which we'll cover quickly below:

  1. GSOP:  The Grand Series of Poker runs across all Ongame rooms and provides players with a chance at a cool $3 million in prize pools.  The main event itself guarantees a whopping $500,000, and free / low-cost satellites are readily available.
  2. Welcome Bonus:  Again, the details of the welcome bonus will be quite different at each room on the Ongame Network, but the core concept is the same:  All rooms offer you a match bonus on your first deposit.
  3. Leaderboards: Each skin has its proprietary take on the leaderboard promotion, but a quick bit of shopping around will allow you to quickly identify which Ongame skin has the right leaderboard promotion for the games, stakes and frequency of your play.
